3D ceilings: new planes in the interior (20 photos)

The use of three-dimensional images is one of the most fashionable trends in interior design. It appeared with the development of computer technology, allowing to create and print images with high resolution. And if a little earlier, designers limited themselves to creating photo wallpaper on the walls, but now they have paid attention to the only remaining “white sheet” in the room - the ceiling.

It turned out that the creation of three-dimensional images on the ceiling can drastically change the feeling of space in the room: add air, visually expand the walls, increase the height, make the view float in the sky. The ceiling in the hands of a skilled designer, like a blank canvas from an artist, turns into a work of art. This is based on 3D printing technology.

The main techniques for creating stereo images are relief photo printing and multi-level ceiling systems. Often, both of these techniques combine to create an even greater effect of space. Let us consider both methods in more detail.

Stereo print

Large-format inkjet printers, so-called plotters, are used for printing large webs. They allow you to print on canvas cloth or PVC film. The base can be matte, glossy or satin. An interesting effect gives a translucent film. The width of the film can reach 4 meters, the fabric - a little less. Solvent ink is used for printing. Apply UV ink to enhance the 3D effect.

Multi-level ceiling

Multi-level designs will help to accurately transmit the stereo 3D ceiling effect. You just need to skillfully beat the transitions of colors and shadows between levels. An experienced designer using the game of light and shade will create an amazing effect of movement, and clouds will float above you, soar birds of paradise, flicker the starry sky or tremble butterfly wings. The movement of air in the room, created by air conditioning or a fan, will enhance this feeling. For the installation of ceilings of this type usually use special drywall.

Applying an image on a perfectly flat stretched surface is easiest. This technology has many advantages:

  • the stretch ceiling with the image applied on it is easily washed away from any dirt;
  • the coating is resistant to temperature, sunlight and high humidity;
  • stretch ceiling with relief pattern will easily hide all the irregularities of the main ceiling: joints, cracks, communications;
  • installation is simple and does not require the removal of furniture, after it does not need a separate cleaning;
  • cloths and paints are made from environmentally friendly products and do not have harmful fumes;
  • such a ceiling will last a long time, fully paying off the investment.

Using 3D drawing when designing a stretch ceiling, you need to remember some limitations. So tightly stretched canvas is afraid of sharp objects and can disperse. All work should be trusted only to professionals who comply with all the technology. Otherwise, such troubles as sagging of the ceiling, uneven joints, unpleasant smell from poor-quality materials are likely. Also, it is better for experts to entrust the installation of the lighting system, since the power of the lamps for this type of ceiling is limited.

Stretch ceilings with a 3D effect in the form of a starry sky, clouds in blue skies, tropical flowers and butterflies, bright fruits are very popular. Also, your ceiling can become a wall or the bottom of a huge pool, if you decorate it with the image of dolphins, sea stars, ocean algae. Abstractions, geometric patterns, various symbols, ornaments look unusual.

To decorate the ceiling, you can use your own photographs and drawings. In a small room with relatively low ceilings, it will be better to look at a small pattern that does not occupy the entire ceiling. There are no restrictions in the selection of images, but it must be remembered that excessively bright colors and turbulent scenes will tire and negatively affect the psychological state.

Suspended 3d-ceiling of PVC panels

3d photo printing is widely used on PVC panels. The panels have excellent hygienic properties, which allows them to be used without restrictions in specialized rooms: pools, bathrooms, and medical facilities. Skillfully selected 3D drawing on the panels for the ceiling will create the necessary atmosphere:

  • fill with air and visually increase the pool space;
  • will give the ceiling of the bathroom marine color;
  • scenes from favorite fairy tales and cartoons will help young patients to cope with the excitement of a doctor's examination or medical manipulation;
  • properly selected colors on the ceiling of PVC panels in the kitchen will create a feeling of cleanliness and freshness.

Plasterboard ceilings in three-dimensional design

It is from drywall that you can create a figure of any complexity on the ceiling. Working with gypsum plasterboards - plasterboard sheets - requires certain skills and abilities. In the finished structure there should be no visible cracks, joints, irregularities. To create a beautiful ceiling, you also need creative and spatial thinking, design skills, accurate calculation, the artist's instinct.

To create a 3D plasterboard ceiling, it is advisable to take into account that only rooms with high ceilings are suitable for design, as in the process of working the height can be reduced by another 30-50 cm. Although there are certain techniques by which the ceiling will become visually higher.

For complex design of rooms with curvilinear structures, they use special drywall, which is called designer. In its composition instead of cardboard introduced fiberglass mesh, allowing to bend the sheet as you like. Compared with conventional GKL design thinner and lighter, although more expensive. Its use allows not only to significantly facilitate the work, but also to create with it the real masterpieces.

At the beginning of work they draw sketches on paper, then transfer them to a special program that allows you to see the finished product, taking into account light sources. Then transfer the sketch to the ceiling and mount the skeleton of the future product with the help of a metal profile. At the same time, they are engaged in the installation of lighting fixtures. At last, the main material is cut and screwed. On the finished ceiling of plasterboard set tension with printed photo printing.

3d wallpaper on the ceiling

As a basis for photo wallpapers on the ceiling with a 3D pattern, thick laminated paper is used. It is much cheaper than textile fabrics. For greater strength, linen or silk or polypropylene fibers are added to the base paper. 3D wallpaper with certain skills you can stick yourself or entrust the work of the master.

In the building stores there is a large selection of ready-made photo wallpaper on the ceiling, but if you wish, you can order printing according to your own sketches or photos. Printed on an individual order 3d wallpaper will cost a little more than ready-made factory analogues, but the design of the room will be unique.
